However, it is not easy to attain this result, especially if you do not have a good grill.
There are many things that you can do to make sure that the ribs do not dry out.
We will also be discussing those here so you can have the best results out of these amazing cuts of meat.
It is very easy to prepare, so all you need to do is collect the tools that you will be using, get the best ingredients, and make sure that you have everything ready before you start cooking.
You can also follow the guide from Pit Boss’ website, but it is pretty generalized and too hard for you to follow. Here, we elaborate so you can get to the details of the process.
We have based this recipe on the same ingredients as the Pit Boss original recipe, so nothing changed with this one, we just made it so you get more details of how to properly do it.
What You Will Need?
For this recipe, you will need two racks of baby back ribs.
While it is easy to just buy some from the supermarket, you need to select the best ones to get all the flavors you want.
There are many signs that you can look for when buying baby back ribs.
Make sure to get the best ribs so that you get the most out of this recipe!
The baby back ribs should have enough fats in between the muscle fibers.
There is usually a cap of fat on the ribs, which means that it can produce many juices, you can get that set.
After buying, you can then trim the fats off and make sure that there are no excess ones that might block the flavors.
Just make sure that there are enough fats to keep the ribs tender.
There is also a proper way to process the ribs before cooking, and we will also discuss that here.
It is already a delicious cut of meat which means that you do not need too much seasoning.
For this recipe, you will only need the Pit Boss Competition Smoked Rub, a cup of apple juice for every rack of ribs, and Southern-style BBQ sauce, later on, to baste the ribs while cooking.
From there, you can start cooking the baby back ribs as you will not need a lot.
You can also edit the recipe and go with your favorite rub and sauce if you have a better alternative.
If not, then you should go with the recommendation of Pit Boss to make sure that you get all the delicious flavors that you want into the ribs and cook them properly on their grills.
Ingredients
2 racks of baby back ribs
1 to 2 cups of apple juice
Southern-style BBQ sauce
Dry rub of your choice
Baby Back Ribs On A Pit Boss Grill
Step 1: Prepare Your Tools
Get your tongs, pans, paper towels, bowls, and other things you will need while cooking.
It is better if you have all the things you need around you than going in and out of the house.
Using a Pit Boss grill means that you will not always stand beside the grill itself while cooking.
However, keeping your tools near the grill will be more convenient and easy when cooking.
Set the grill in an area where you can access it easily and it does not damage any objects near it.
Keep it away from trees and other vegetation in your backyard, or it will burn off the leaves.
Step 2: Prepare The Baby Back Ribs
If you have bought frozen racks of baby back ribs, you will need to properly defrost them.
Leave them in the refrigerator overnight to thaw them without abruptly removing the frozen areas.
If you want the process to be faster, you can leave them in the sink and let them thaw by allowing cold water to run through the ribs.
From there, prepare it by removing some parts.
Do this first by grabbing one end of the rib with a paper towel and then score the edge with a knife.
This should lift the thin membrane on the rib, which is something you should remove.
Pull the membrane off and then discard it.
Remove the membrane properly to ensure that the seasoning pierces through the meat and adds more flavors to the ribs when cooked.
Carve off any excess fats from the ribs and then lay them on a tray as you prepare your seasonings.
Again, you can use the recommended seasoning or make your own if you want.
Step 3: Season The Baby Back Ribs
Place the baby back ribs on a tray and then rub your favorite seasoning on all sides.
Make sure that you get it all over the ribs so there will be no spots that are a bit bland or too powerful.
Allow the ribs to absorb a little bit of the flavors within the seasoning by letting them rest for 15 minutes on a tray.
From there, preheat the Pit Boss grill using Apple Hardwood Pellets.
These pellets are perfect for adding a little bit of sweetness to the already delicious baby back ribs.
It is also a milder type of wood that will not overpower the flavors of the baby back ribs.
Allow the Pit Boss grill to preheat for 15 minutes with the lid closed.
Set the temperature to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and wait for it to reach that temperature while the ribs are resting.
Make sure to fill up the pellet hopper of the grill as it will be cooking for quite a while, which means that it would need some pellets for cooking the baby back ribs for hours.
Step 4: Cook The Ribs
Place the ribs on the grill grate with the meat side facing up.
Allow them to smoke for at least 2 hours with the lid closed, and do not frequently open the lid as you might cool the grill down.
After 2 hours, remove the ribs from the grill and then turn up the temperature to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
Prepare the apple juice for the baby back ribs as well as a set of aluminum foil.
Create aluminum foil boats where a single rack of ribs can fit. Place each rib on an aluminum foil and then pour one cup of apple juice on each rack of rib before closing the foil to seal it.
Place the baby back ribs back into the grill and allow them to smoke for another 2 hours. After that, you can then remove them from the grill and out of the aluminum foil packaging.
Turn the heat up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then close the lid of the grill.
Remove the ribs from the apple juice and then generously brush a layer of barbecue sauce on each rack of ribs.
Grill the ribs once more for about 15 minutes after coating them with barbecue sauce.
The point here is to get the sauce to become more firm and cling onto the baby back ribs.
After that, remove the baby back ribs from the grill and then let them rest on a cutting board for at least 15 minutes.
Cut the ribs and then serve them while they are still hot.
Conclusion
The result of this process is always a tender and juicy set of ribs that I am sure everybody will enjoy.
Some of the recipes that we made on the Pit Boss grill are Pork Chops, Grilled Flank Steak Fajitas, Pork Tenderloin, Pulled Pork, Smoked Salmon, Turkey Breast, Ribs, and Pork Butt.
The soft meat that is cooked for hours will just fall off the bone with a single pull.
The sweet flavor coming from both the rub and the apple juice perfectly combines the meaty taste inside the rib.
You can always edit the recipe and go for other flavors on the ribs.
Be creative but always make sure that you follow the temperature, timing, and control on the guide above so you can always have the best racks of ribs on the table for your family!
