Weber Performer Premium Vs. Weber Master Touch Grills
With the times advancing faster than ever there are so many grills and different options such as the Weber Performer Premium and Master Touch to cook meat.
Weber is a great company that has produced a long line of grills that are fan favorites. There are many models to choose from, but if you have the budget go for the best ones.
The Weber Performer is one of the best, most convenient, and powerful grills on the market. It is a great grill for you to use in your backyard and cook for guests or just for your family.
The same goes with the Weber Master Touch grill; it is one of the simpler models from the company but is also one of the most powerful ones. You can never go wrong with either one.
There are many things that Weber has kept on most models of grill that they have. This makes the two grills we compare here a bit similar from each other in general or in hindsight.
So here, we will be taking a deeper look at the features of each grill to differentiate them from each other properly.
How To Get Started With The Grills
There is not much work needed when it comes to setting up these grills. You just need to find an area where you can place them to start cooking any food you want right away.
You can place them in an area in your backyard, or if you have a large patio, you can also place them there so that the grills are safe from the sun, rain, and other outdoor elements.
The Master Touch grill comes with a stand that will help you cook at the right height. You need to assemble the grill to make it sit on the stand, but this will only take a few minutes.
You will see a lot of differences from the setup alone as you need some assembly with the Performer Premium. It has its table and stands, so you need to assemble that properly.
The table included in the Performer Premium is pretty large, so you will need some help setting it up. There are two large wheels on the stand, so you do not have to carry them around.
After setting up the stand and assembling the parts, you can then place the grill on the dedicated part of the table and then start cooking. This is an easy process, so do not worry.
The company also includes a pretty thorough and detailed step-by-step guide on properly assembling the grill and the table. Just find some help if you do not know how to do it.
After setting up the grills, load up the charcoal and then start cooking. Within a few minutes, you will be having the best barbecues, steaks, burgers, or anything that you want with these grills.
What I Liked About These Grills
You cannot deny the similarities between these grills if you look at the main cooking grill itself. This means that you might get confused when it comes to choosing the right grill for you.
However, we will beak them down for you so you can make the best decision. While there are similarities, we will highlight the differences to see which grill is better if there is one.
Personally, it is still hard to choose between these two because they are both great. So we will compare their cooking capabilities, size, power, and other features for you to choose from.
Portability
They are starting with one of the most-asked questions on the website. These grills are not that heavy if you talk about the main grill itself, but they do come with accessories and their stands.
I would say that if you only bring the grill, these two are very portable.
They only weigh around 25 to 30 pounds which means that you can carry them around easily without any help.
However, if you are going on a tailgating or a camping trip, you will need something to set them on.
They have a bump underneath for catching the dirt, which makes them unable to balance.
That is why you need to bring with you the stand for each of the grill.
I would say that the Master-Touch is better when it comes to traveling as it only weighs 37.25 pounds which is pretty light.
Compared to the Performer Premium that weighs over 90 pounds with the stand included.
Although it has wheels, it will be tough to bring it up and on the back of your truck without help.
The Mater Touch grill also comes with two large wheels that make traveling with it pretty convenient. You do not have to carry the whole weight of the grill when you want to transfer it.
So when it comes to portability, I would choose the Master-Touch grill over the Performer Premium.
You can easily bring it along with you on your trips or move it around in the backyard.
Cooking Area
These grills have a unique cooking space that allows you to cook almost any food you want. The cooking grate of these two grills are almost the same, so there is no comparison.
Both have a 22-inch diameter on the grill grates, which equates to 363 square inches of cooking space. You can cook up to 13 burgers at a time on a grill grate this large.
The unique feature of their grill grates is the fact that they have a removable middle part. You can replace the circular center of the grill grates with a cast-iron pot or other inserts.
You can replace the grill grates with a pizza stone, griddle, roaster, or any available BBQ System inserts. This widens your cooking capability as you get to cook any type of food on it.
This also makes it easier to change or add fuel to the firebox without removing the food on the grill. You can continue cooking while you add more charcoal to improve the temperature.
The only difference between the Master Touch and the Performer Premium’s cooking spaces is that the Master-Touch grill has a warming rack. It is a small grate on the side of the main one.
There, you can put your cooked burgers on or toast some bread on the side while you are cooking the main dish. This extra space will help keep your food warm before serving it.
Temperature And Heat Retention
When it comes to cooking on a charcoal grill, you should expect a lot of heat involved. These grills can produce a lot of heat, and with the charcoal fuel, they can prolong it.
There is also a helping hand when it comes to retaining the heat inside the grills. That comes from the cover or lid that is porcelain-enameled, which evens out the temperature inside the grill.
This grill cover is perfect for cooking, and the weather is pretty cold. It protects the grills from both wind and the cold temperature on the outside so you can continue cooking with even heat.
The grill cover also has vents that allow you to control the temperature. You can switch the four vents’ openings to adjust the temperature according to the heat needed to cook your food.
What makes the grill lid amazing as well is the finish put on it. It is porcelain-enameled and painted to not rust, crack, or peel despite the weather it deals with in the outdoors.
Cooking In The Grills
There was not a lot of difference when it comes to the cooking process with these grills. What separates them is preparing the food that you want to cook and one that is truly better.
The Master Touch grill is great at cooking as it was able to cook burgers in a few minutes. The same goes with the Performer Premium, and the result is perfectly juicy and tender burgers.
I find it better to cook burgers on the Master-Touch grill because of a warming rack. That gave me a lot of space to cook more burgers, especially when there are many guests.
Both can make cooking pretty easy and convenient what I liked most about these grills because they both have a tuck-away lid holder whenever I opened the grill when cooking.
You can easily slide the grill cover on the side and tuck it away on the holder so that you do not have to put the cover on the ground. You get to look at your food while cooking with ease.
Another feature that stood out to me was the thermometer. This is an additional feature as the other earlier models from Weber did not have thermometers on them which was a hassle.
With these grills, I no longer needed to measure the temperature by opening the cover. You can easily read the accurate temperature of the grill with the thermometer on the lid of the grills.
So while the grills are pretty much the same when it comes to cooking, I still prefer the Performer Premium because of the large table on the side, which is very helpful in preparing.
You can cut your vegetables and other ingredients on the table so you can cook them right away once they are ready. You can also use the table to put your condiments at arm’s reach.
There is also large charcoal storage under the table, so you do not have to go back and forth to get your fuel. With that, it is easy for me to choose the Performer Premium over the Master-Touch.
Maintenance And Cleaning
Cleaning the grills can be a hassle and possibly destructive if you do not do it properly. The best reminder I can give you is to always clean the grills every after use to keep them perfect.
Washing the grill grates is pretty easy as you do not need to worry about chemicals sticking to them. You can use soap to clean them and remove the food residuals as well as the grease.
Just rinse them well and dry them properly to make sure they do not rust. These grills also have their cleaning system, so you rarely need to get into the firebox yourself and clean it out.
There is a one-touch system under the grills, which is a hands-free cleaning system. It is a large ash-catcher that takes care of the charcoals, ash, and other dirt from the grill.
Conclusion
My personal choice between the two is the Weber Performer Premium since it has more accessories and space for preparing the food, storage, and convenience when cooking.

However, it is pretty large to prefer the Master-Touch if you have a small storage area. I would also go with the Master-Touch grill when it comes to traveling.
