When you have some barbecue in your backyard, you always need to have some ribs aside from steak. You can never go wrong with the tasty ribs on your plate.

The ribs pack a lot of flavor due to the natural anatomy of animals. It engulfs the torso’s main area where it is one of the initial parts of the body to absorb nutrients.

Procedure

Step 1. Remove the Silver Skin

Silverskin is the thin membrane on the pork’s belly. You can find this underneath the ribs and you will need to remove it to create a more tender finish on the ribs.

You can easily do this by sliding a knife just underneath one end of the ribs and then using a paper towel, hold the lifted silverskin and rip it from the ribs.

You might not perfect it the first time but it will be effortless in the next tries. You can also remove it little by little and no one is pressuring you to remove it in one pull.

When you do not do this, the rub will not be as useful. The silverskin is what prevents the meat from absorbing the rub, and makes the ribs chewy.

We have a video here that will show you how to remove the Silver Skin and the steps on doing the recipe.

Step 2. Rub the Ribs

As we have briefly said, you can combine the rub ahead and let it rest. This way, the flavors of the delicious spices you put in it will be enhanced and combined properly.

Use a brush and spread the rub on the ribs and make sure that you put it all over the ribs. Wrap the coated ribs with plasticwrap and then put it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours.

Of course, the longer the ribs are drenched in the rub, the more flavorful they will get. So if you want, you can prepare this the night before and then let it refrigerate overnight.

Step 3. Get the Smoker Ready

Follow the directions from your smoker’s manufacturer and preheat the smoker to 225 degrees Fahrenheit. This will be the optimal heat for the ribs to get slow and low cooking.

Step 4. Smoke!

Get the ribs and put them on the racks of the smoker bone side down. Let it smoke at the same temperature for three hours.

While waiting for the ribs, prepare the half cup of apple juice and a half cup of water in a spray bottle and occasionally spray the ribs with it. You can do this every 30 minutes.

Remove the ribs from the smoker after three hours. Do not turn the smoker off, leave it at the same temperature, and proceed to the next step.

Step 5. Moisturize

Layout a large tin foil on a table, large enough to wrap the ribs, and then put the ribs on the foil. Mix another half cup of apple juice and a honey cup in a bowl and stir them until they properly combine.

Pour the mixture into the ribs and then seal them by closing the foil. Make sure that there are no leaks so that the ribs will absorb the mixture well.

Place the wrapped ribs in the smoker again at the same temperature and then smoke them again for another 2 hours.

Step 6. Mix the Sauce

While waiting for the ribs, mix all the ingredients for the Honey Garlic Sauce in a bowl. You will need to do this while smoking the ribs to get more flavor.

Step 7. Final Smoking

After 2 hours:

  • Remove the ribs from the smoker once again.
  • Rub the ribs with the honey garlic sauce.
  • Put them back in the smoker for another hour.

Step 8. Serve!

After an hour, get the ribs out of the smoker, and this time, you can turn the smoker off if you are not going to cook anything else.

Coat it once again with the honey garlic sauce and serve!

Tips and Notes

Do The 3-2-1 Method

This is the hours that you will need to smoke the ribs to get that fall-off-the-bone texture of the ribs. 3 hours for the first, 2 hours on the second, and an hour for the final smoking.

That is a total of 6 hours meaning you cannot smoke ribs like this if you do not have much time. So it is best to smoke ribs during weekends or when you are at home for the day.

Even if you think that you will be back after six hours, you cannot leave the ribs behind for six hours as you are still going to need to coat it with sauce and rubs on the intervals.

Remove the Silver Skin

Ensure that you remove the membrane underneath the ribs to get as much of the rub and the sauce into the meat. This is pretty easy and you can use a knife and paper towel to do it.

Removing this membrane will also make the ribs softer. The chewy texture you get in your ribs might be because of the membrane.

Eat it with other food

Ribs are a beautiful and delicious food that you can eat with other recipes. Such foods that you can eat ribs with are grilled salad, corn cob, and dinner rolls.

You can be as creative as you want and get other foods to complement the delicious ribs to make your dinner better.

Conclusion

Ribs are great food and they pack a lot of protein as well as other nutrients. So while you are eating this healthy food, why not make it more fun by adding some flavors.

Honey garlic is such a great combination because you get the sweetness from the honey and the healthy and tasty flavor of the garlic that reduces heart and blood complications.

If you are having a great weekend and want something to chill with, you can smoke ribs to enjoy the day. Eating the honey garlic ribs is not the only fun in it.

Once you get familiar with the process, you will have more fun while smoking the ribs. All the process and the flavor that goes to it just boosts the mood.

So go ahead and start cooking your delicious honey garlic ribs. Make sure to follow the recipe and do the tips mentioned above and you will be having a nice, soft, and delicious ribs for dinner.
