What You Will Need?

You need to look for a fresh one so I recommend going there early in the morning.

 There are some signs that you can look for when you buy pork tenderloin.

You need to make sure that the pork cut is fresh and has no blood clots between the meat or muscles.

 It is natural to find some blood on the bones or some cuts but this cut does not necessarily have a bone.

That is why you will need to consider looking for another if there is too much blood.

 The meat should be clean and has an even color except for the fats. Speaking of fats, there should be a nice roll of fat on top of the tenderloin and you should get those kinds of cuts.

 The fats on the tenderloin simply mean that there will be enough juiciness to the meat as well as a tender texture.

So do not be afraid of the fats on the tenderloin as you can trim it later on.

Pork Tenderloin On A Pit Boss Grill


Step 1: Prepare Your Tools

 Get the tools you will need for this recipe and make sure they are near the grill.

That way, you will not have to go back and forth in the house to get something that you need.

 Make sure to get your tongs, grill spatula, tray, and everything else you need when preparing the pork tenderloin and cooking it.

Bring them to a table beside the grill.

 For this recipe, you will also need a mixing bowl for the seasoning and other preparation.

You will also need a knife later on once the pork tenderloins are cooked and are ready to be served.


Step 2: Prepare The Marinade

In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, brown sugar, and the Louisiana Grills Tennessee apple butter seasoning.

Make sure to mix them well until they are combined perfectly.

 You do not necessarily need a large bowl for the ingredients of the rub alone but since you are going to place the pork tenderloin into the bowl later, you will need to get a large bowl for this.


Step 3: Prepare The Pork Tenderloin

If you bought a frozen pork tenderloin, make sure to defrost it the night before cooking.

Leave the pork tenderloin in the refrigerator overnight to thaw it safely and it will be ready the next day.

 Once thawed, you are almost ready to cook, bring it out of the refrigerator and then start trimming off the fats.

You will only need to leave about a quarter of an inch of the fats.

There is also a membrane underneath the pork tenderloin that you need to remove. 

It is called the silverskin and you need to get rid of it so that the seasoning can seep into the meat.

 Grab a paper towel and cut the corner of the silver skin, hold the membrane with the paper towel so you get a proper grip, and then pull it off as you guide the knife underneath to remove it.

Once done with that, get the marinade and rub it all over the pork tenderloin.

Allow the pork tenderloin to rest in the marinade for at least an hour before cooking it.


Step 4: Preheat The Pit Boss Grill

 Pit Boss recommends using Apple Hardwood pellets to get all the smokiness and sweetness that you want for this recipe.

However, you can use any type of wood pellets that you want.

 Preheat the Pit Boss grill and turn the grill on smoke. Once it is ready, set the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, close the lid, and allow the Pit Boss grill to preheat for 15 minutes.


Step 5: Grill The Pork Tenderloin

Once the grill is ready and the pork tenderloin has absorbed all the flavors from the seasoning, you can then cook it.

Place the pork tenderloin directly on the grill grates and let it cook.

 Make sure to flip the tenderloin over every 7 minutes so that no side gets burnt.

At around 10 minutes, insert a meat probe into the thickest part of the pork tenderloin.

 Continue to cook the pork tenderloin for another 10 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. From there, you can remove it from the grill.


Step 6: Rest And Serve

 Once the pork tenderloin has reached the desired internal temperature, remove it from the grill and then let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes to allow the juices to flow back.

 After 10 minutes and while the pork tenderloin is still hot, you can use a glove or a large fork to hold it and then carefully cut the tenderloin against the grain and then serve!
