One of the best foods that mankind ever invented is burgers. They are made fresh for the most part but for some people, they prefer frozen ones and hence it is vital to know how to grill frozen burgers for survival, lol.
In the USA alone, people eat an average of 50 billion burgers in a year. That is an amazing amount which only accounts for a small portion of the world when it comes to burger eaters.
See, when you do not have much time, you would rather pick up your favorite burger in your favorite restaurant. So instead of making them fresh, you cut down the time and buy them frozen.
This is good since there are no major differences between a fresh burger and a frozen one once they are cooked.
However, they do differ slightly on how you prepare and cook them.
There are several ways of saving time and money when you want to eat some burgers.
You can buy them in bulk quantities and freeze them since they can last longer when frozen.
So any time you want a burger, you get some in the freezer and then cook it.
The problem here is that people make obvious mistakes when cooking frozen burgers so we are here to help.
Aside from that, you also need to make sure that you have the freshest ingredients to go with your burger patties.

There are also certain steps that you should take when cooking frozen burgers, and here they are:
Defrost The Frozen Patties
When you cook something, no matter how hot or how slow you cook them, defrost it before putting it under heat. This will give a more even finish on any frozen food that you cook.
You see, the middle of frozen food is the last area to thaw and the last area to heat up. So when you put it directly over flames, you get a burned outside and a raw interior.
Defrosting will sometimes take overnight if you choose to do it in the fridge. This is good since you do not necessarily remove all the juices in the meat and you keep it cool.
So put the frozen burgers in a plastic container and leave them in the fridge. You need to contain the juices from the raw meat to avoid contamination with other foods in the fridge.
Once the burgers are defrosted, they can stay in the fridge for up to two days before cooking. This is effective when you have too many burgers that you need to cook.
Another way to defrost the burger patties without too much help from machines is to wrap them in a plastic bag and then submerge them in cold water for at least 30 minutes depending on the thickness.
The common mistake that most people make is to defrost the meat in hot water. Do not do this as it will also start the cooking process of the burgers which is not what you want.
You see, when you do this, the burgers will come out with a slightly gray outer part and the interior will be frozen still. So let them defrost in cold water for however long they need to.
The other option is the microwave method but we do not recommend that as it also starts to cook the meat.
Anyway, the storage time is not that long when you defrost the meat in water or in the microwave. You need to cook the burgers right away to prevent spoiling them.
Grilling the Patties
Once you have defrosted the patties, it is time for you to grill them. So lay them on a flat surface and start preparing all the other ingredients and appliances that you are going to use.
Step 1: Preheat the Grill
This is a constant reminder here to always preheat the grill and it is important to remind you to do this more than ever. The key to cooking frozen burgers is to preheat the grill.
This will allow the grill to produce the right temperature and some sort of convection so that the burgers will cook evenly from all angles. The sear will be from the direct flames but the overall cook will be from the convection heat.
This will also prevent the burgers from sticking into the grill grates. So set the grill to a temperature of 325 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 15 minutes.
Step 2: Prepare the Burgers
Cut the buns in half and then chop the lettuce or the other ingredients that you will put in your burger. Season the burgers with salt and pepper and you can do this with the other ingredients as well.
Step 3: Cook the Burgers
Place the burger patties directly on the grates of the grill. Let them cook and flip them over every 5 minutes to keep it cooking all the way through.
Depending on the thickness of your patty, the cooking time will usually take around 15 to 20 minutes. Use a thermometer to accurately measure the temperature of the meat.
This will tell you a more accurate indication when the burger is ready. The recommended internal temperature for ground beef to be eaten is 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
On the last 2 or 3 minutes of cooking the burgers, brush some melted butter on the insides of the buns and then place them on the grill flat side down to toast.
Let the burgers rest on the table for a little bit to keep it juicy and tasty.
Step 4: Assemble the Burgers
Place the buns on a table side by side and then spread the sauce of your choice on them. The sauce will enhance the flavor of the other ingredients in the burger.
Then, place the burger patties over the sauce. Put the vegetables such as the lettuce and tomatoes on top of the burger, place the other bun on top and then slice.
You can also put the vegetables first after the sauce and then the burger on top. This will allow you to place other ingredients on top of the patty such as another layer of sauce or cheese to melt.
Step 5: Serve
You might as well go for it and cook some fries on the side. Pierce each half of the burger with a toothpick and then place them beside the fries to serve!
1. The defrosting period will depend on how thick the patties are. But no matter how you defrost them, make sure that they do not start cooking before they are put on the grill.
2. The microwave technique can be done when you have no other choice. You can put the burger in the microwave to defrost as long as you remove it before it starts cooking.
3. The sauce you put in the burger will enhance the flavor so choose the most fitting. You have a lot to choose from like ketchup, mayo, mustard, or any sauce that you think will fit.
Frozen food is always looked down upon because it is considered as processed or not fresh. But the fact that they are preserved well when frozen is a great argument for that.
In fact, when you keep a piece of meat frozen properly, it can last at least 4 months without losing quality. That is when you freeze it before it has been cooked.
